Woman Adopts Sad Pit Bull From Shelter, And He’s So Grateful He Can’t Stop Hugging Her

Dogs are man’s best friend, and if you are a dog owner, you know this is completely true. Dogs are the ideal companions, loyal, true, non-judgmental, and loving, and they long to make us happy.

However, we often fail to treat them in the same way. There are millions of dogs waiting to be adopted in shelters, and over 1,800 shelter dogs are euthanized daily in the US simply because no one adopted them.

Fortunately, some people give them the love they deserve, like a 20-year old college student and volunteer at ACCT Philly, Kayla Filoon.

When she realized she needed a puppy in her life, she decided to adopt a homeless pit bull, Russ.

She explains that she was instantly smitten with this beat-up and abandoned pit bull, that was just sitting there, not making any noise, looking at her with his sad, puppy-dog eyes.

Kayla remembers he was terribly skinny, and was missing fur on his tail and ears. Yet, behind his appearance, the girl simply knew he was a delightful dog.

The next day, she took the brown-and-white pit bull out and they went for a car ride. She bought him some chicken nuggets, and remembers he just sat in the passenger seat like a little gentleman. At this point, she just knew she was going to adopt him, and she did that same night.

When she took him home, all of her six housemates adored Russ. Russ took a little while to get used to the new environment and slept a lot because he was still getting over his kennel cough.

Kayla then noticed that Russ started following her around the house. One night, while she was sitting in a chair doing homework, the dog jumped up to cuddle with her.

The moment of Russ joyfully snuggling up to her was caught in a photograph and posted on social media, and the photo quickly went viral. It reveals a message of love, gratitude, and joy.

Filoon says that he is such a love bug, and the cuddliest dog she has ever encountered.

You also have the chance to help animals, by volunteering at an animal shelter, donate money to the local shelter, and opt to adopt a pet instead of buying one.

You can also apply to be a foster parent to a dog or a cat while they are waiting to be adopted, and give it the love it needs.
